Held at the Raddison SAS, at Stansted Airport Derek Winter enthralled a good attendance of the Stansted Airport Chamber members with a fascinating historical tour about the airport. 
Derek talked through the initial beginnings of Stansted as an American air base with an enormous runway through the first hijacking incident. On June 5 there will be a 25 year commemoration of the landing of the Space Shuttle Enterprise at the airport. (More details to come) He started at Stansted Airport in November 1966 as a Accounts Clerk. (He hated accounts) He held various positions throughout his 42 years including: Personnel & Training, Terminal, Cargo, Public Relations & Marketing, he now resides in the Noise Complaints Department. |
