One of the most popular airports in the programme is Stansted and on Monday 3rd March, the first Fred. Olsen charter took off for Miami to join latest cruise ship, Balmoral, on an 11-night cruise round the islands of the Eastern Caribbean.

Stansted Airport - A Lighter View Print E-mail

Held at the Raddison SAS, at Stansted Airport Derek Winter enthralled a good attendance of the Stansted Airport Chamber members with a fascinating historical tour about the airport.

Derek Winter

Derek talked through the initial beginnings of Stansted as an American air base with an enormous runway through the first hijacking incident.

On June 5 there will be a 25 year commemoration of the landing of the Space Shuttle Enterprise at the airport.  (More details to come)

He started at Stansted Airport in November 1966 as a Accounts Clerk. (He hated accounts) He held various positions throughout his 42 years including: Personnel & Training, Terminal, Cargo, Public Relations & Marketing, he now resides in the Noise Complaints Department.
