Uttlesford District CouncilCouncil brings business finance roadshow to Uttlesford

Wed 15 October 2014

Businesses across Uttlesford can get advice on how to access vital funding for growth at a workshop and networking event taking place in the district next month.

The Access to Business Finance roadshow will be held at the Hilton Hotel, London Stansted Airport on Monday 15 October, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

The free-to-attend event is being delivered by Essex County Council’s Essex Innovation Programme in conjunction with Uttlesford District Council, and is one of 10 taking place around the county.

The aim is to engage with businesses to understand their funding needs, give an overview of the funding that is available, and introduce businesses to partners and organisations who can offer further assistance and advice.

The event will cover grants and loans, working with universities, European and regional funding, project partners and business mentoring, as well as bid writing, innovation and academic support.

Cllr Jeremy Rose, lead member for economic development at Uttlesford District Council, welcomed the initiative.

He said: “This roadshow is a fantastic opportunity for small businesses to discover ways of growing without being restrained or restricted by traditional ways of financing. It is good for businesses to think of alternative ways to finance growth and expansion, and this could lead to a positive impact on employment across the district.

“There will also be the opportunity to network with other businesses and meet with representatives from banks and other organisations who can offer access to finance support.”

Cllr Kevin Bentley, Essex County Council cabinet member for economic growth, said: “There are millions of pounds of funding available out there, but it’s sometimes difficult knowing how to get a share of it.

“These workshops have proved extremely helpful in the past to businesses in Essex, and I hope this autumn series will result in a new tranche of funding for businesses in the county.”
